The Villa, Pondok Ibu Anna is hidden behind a bamboo screen and tropical foliage. A decorative path leads to the entrance across a fish pond circling the house. The two storey hexagonal house is built of bamboo, glass and tiles with a Balinese thatched roof.

A door leads into a spacious garden bathroom with a golden sandstone bath surrounded by a wall of bamboo, river stones and orchids.

The wonderful balcony has panoramic views over the garden and rice fields to volcanoes in the distance.

You enter a light and beautiful space with a tiled floor, comfortable bamboo and teak furniture, blue cushions and hand woven cream curtains from Yogyakarta. Glass doors open out onto a wide verandah.

Bamboo steps, varnished to a deep golden colour lead up into a wonderfully atmospheric bedroom under a soaring thatched roof dome. The floor is dark wood, the huge bamboo bed is surrounded by romantic netting and there is an ensuite.

Another door opens into a kitchen, its placement dictated by Balinese Hindu custom to be situated at the furthest point away from Gunung Agung the sacred mountain. It has white tiles and is very well equipped with an electric fridge, gas stove and appliances.

Water is pumped up from a deep well into a tall water tower and a gas heater provides hot water.
